The patient asks you to leave the medication at the bedside, stating, “I will take these after breakfast.” What should the nurse say and/or do?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The nurse should not leave the medication at the bedside, even if the patient tells to do so. It is the responsibility of the nurse to make sure that the patient have had the medicine. So make the patient have the medicine in presence of the nurse. It is also risk to leave the medicine at the bedside as there is chance for any children to have this. So after the patient had the breakfast the nurse can come ,give the medicine and make them to eat in front of the nurse.
