Firstly we should know in detail about both SUD - Substance Use Disorde & ICD - Impulse Control Disorder

Substance use disorder is the persistent use of drugs (which also includes alcohol) inspite knowing that it will cause substantial harm.

Impulse-control disorder is a psychiatric disorder which is characterized by impulsivity. Impulsivity means failure to resist a temptation or an urge.

There are no Major theories per se for ICD but it occurs due to progressive dysfunction of the ventral striatal circuit.

There are 2 Major theories for SUD & ICD as shown below

  1. A genetic predisposition
  2. or addiction

According to first theory person is genetically pre-disposed to get a hobbit and according to second theory by surrounding accompany patient gets habbit of substance and then there is psychological and physiological dependence.
