Answer #1

Case fatality rate ( CFR)

It is the proportion of deaths from a specific disease when compared with total number of people diagnosed with the disease in a particular time period. Case fatality rate is also called Case fatality ratio or Case fatality risk .

CFR can be calculated by dividing the number of deaths from a specified disease for a specified time period by the number of individuals diagnosed with disease for the specific time period.

Case Fatality Rate of Ebloa in Seirra Leone =

Total deaths from Ebola(2014) = 3956

Total number of Diagnosed case (2014) =

14, 124 Ebloa cases

CFR = 3956 / 14124 × 100 =

( when calculating the proportion multiply with 100)

CFR = 28 %

Ebola case fatality in the country is 28%.
