Every person will have primary and secondary goals in their lives. In nursing when a persons primary goal comes into conflict with secondary goal is explained as conflict of interest. Conflict of interest can be seen in every aspect in our lives. For example if a person personal interest interfere with their professional responsibilities. In healthcare if a nurse personal, financial, or family interfere with nurse's professional responsibility towards her patient then it is considered as conflict of interest because in here both the nurse interest plays an important role in her life.

In a person's life if their personal and professional responsibilities clashed then their life will be unstable. The conflict should be managed before it escalates into difficult problem.

Recognizing the conflict at early stage and taking initiation to solve it is first step towards resolution of conflict. We should be calm and should always be proactive and listen and understand the reason for the conflict. Solution to the conflict can only be achieved when we work towards it. While solving conflict one must always consider ethical and legal issues.
