A person’s attitudes and beliefs are often the driving force behind health choices and health behaviors. In your initial post, consider the role of a health professional. Referring to multilevel theory, do you believe it is more challenging to change a person’s attitudes about healthy behaviors or to change a person’s social environment that supports his or her health behaviors?
One is made up of one’s own environment with defined opportunities, threats, advantages and disadvantages. This would force one either adopt to the environment and escape from the environment but the latter happens very rarely. So, one would remain the prisoner of one’s own environment and it would be difficult to change the environment because it would be too big to change. Everyone can change their attitude thus change their life for good. Personal counseling sessions and reinforcing the need for change would definitely help the person understand and turn towards a healthy lifestyle. Thus changing a person’s attitude is easier than changing the environment.
