Directions: Read the scenario below and answer the reflective questions based on the scenario. Your response for each question should be 150-250 words. Include three to four scholarly references to support your responses.

Scenario:

Lily Chan is a 65-year-old Cambodian widow. She has a history of physical ailments that cannot be explained by any medical reason. Mrs. Chan says she has had these for many years but they are getting worse since her husband passed away a year ago and her son moved to another state about 6 months ago. She has also begun to have vivid nightmares of things that happened during the war when she was a child including being separated from her mother when she left Cambodia. These are all impacting her normal daily living patterns that she and her husband were accustomed to. She also does not know what to do with her time, now that her husband and son are no longer present. Mrs. Chan also indicated that her son wanted her to move with him so that she would not be lonely, but she did not want to leave the home that she and her husband worked so hard for after becoming citizens in the United States.

Grief is the response to loss, particularly to the loss of someone or something that has died , to which a bond or affection was formed. Although conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, it also a physical, cognitive, behavioral , social , cultural, spiritual and philosophical dimension. While the yerms are often used interchangeably, bereavement refers to the state of loss , and grief is the reaction to tht loss.

Here Mrs . Liky chan , who is 65 years old widow feels of losing ' half ' of themselves. A factor is the manner in which the spouse dued. The survivors of a spouse Mrs Chan experience herself as " left behind '' in this world and suffer from depression and loneliness. And it becomes great challenge to her to reconnect with others. She is totally disturb from insight that she gone to her past life experiences on childhood days. After that from the 6 months her son went to the another city . So , she more get lonely. And she refused to him come along with him. In such situation person generally denied all the such things or task given to them and they continously refused to eat and skiped the meal more than two days.

These losses impacting on her from all the angles of life .if sits to watch carefully. Her mood get down all the time. And loss the interest in all those activities when earlier do's with curiosity and energetically.so, she weaked and broken down internally. Her physical health get worsed on day to day. Dark circles geting more and more darks , wrinkles are cone across the face. Her nutritional status gone down , sleep wake cycle disturb , Mrs chan go tthe bed hardly 1-2 hrs.she continously skipping the meal ,not to go outside , she herself kept her in dark room, and never want to come out from that darkness, she herself fe that her life have no meaning to live.

Yes age , get affected by the death of spouse . If the death of spouse occured in the young age from marriage then the whole upcoming life for the another one becomes challengeable to face. The children's are small the house expenditure and even the chils Career get affected bery badly. If the death occurred in late day's of marriage when the chils get on their feet thenit affected to the another spouse but no as much compare to if death occurred in young age if marriage.

Each culture specifies manners such as rituals styles of dress, or other habbits as well as attitude, in which the bereaved rae encouraged or expected to take part . Some beliefs to be decreased are quickly forgotten and life continuous on. Whereas some beliefs to maintenance of ties with the decreased is accepted and carried out through religious rituals. Different cultures grieve in different ways, but all have ways that are vital in healthy coping with the death of a loved one.

She is experiencing the depression phase of grief process. Her empty feelings come forward , and one's grief moves in on a deeper level than before. She withdraw from their daily life activities, and they may feel a fog of intense sadness. The stage of depression is a necessary step in the healing process that is grieving. But complicated grief and depression is dangerous, in such conditions patient assess for the signs of suicide.

As a nurse or an advocate one of the honor of taking care of the most vulnerable patient and loved ones who experience loss. It is important to assess characteristics signs of grief and loss and address them appropriately. It is important for the nurse or an advocate to start this process by building rapport with the patient and any present loved ones. Encourage them to speak, openly and honestly , about their emotional and phyical feeling . Utilize active listening skills and provide a nonjudgmental environment.
