Interpret the following arterial blood gas (ABG) result:
a. pH 7.48, HCO3– 12 mEq/L, PCO2 35 mm Hg, PO2 85 mm Hg
b. Name two treatments that may be used to correct this acid-base imbalance.
( a) Nomal valves arterial blood gases (ABG). Are:-
PH = 7.35-7.45
Pco2 = 35-45 mmHg
HCo 3 = 22-28 mmHg
Sao 2= 94% -. 100%
PaO2 = 75- 100 mmHg
In the above question ,
PH is increased it indicates alkalosis,
,HCo3 is decreased it indicates problem related to respiratory system.
Pco2 in decreasing range it also indicated to tge respiratory system.
So, it indicates that person is suffering from respiratory alkalosis.
(b) The two treatment for respiratory alkalosis are as follows:-
