LPN instruction to the family : Before surgery

• Instruct the patient to stop eating and drinking after midnight .If not surgery may be canceled.
• Before surgery the patient will be assessed by members of surgical team including anesthesiologist.
• Doctor will give medications to sleep in the night,make him feel more comfortable and relaxed.
• If the doctor instructed to take medication on the day of surgery give with sips of water only.
• Give a shower with an antiseptic soap the night before surgery to minimize the risk of infection.
• Bring patients identification,Insurance information,contact and emergency information,essential items,including glasses,hearing aids,dentures, or other personal items the patient needs to function
• In the preoperative are you are asked to stay in the waiting room.
