Answer: The Carpal tunnel can be defined as the compression of the median nerve. It is a condition in which the hand becomes numb or tingling effects occurs followed by weakness.

The pathophysiology includes as the compression of the nerves lead to the lesion in the myelin sheath as well as in the axon. This causes changes in the connective tissues. This leads to the pheripheral nerve entrapment and makes the nerve too tight. This may result the nerve damage, numbness etc.

The four specific signs are:

  • Weaken muslces
  • Tingling
  • Numbness in hands
  • Sensation of pins.

The Impact of Wearing a Splint for a Patient with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as it holds the joints in the neutral position. It is usually wear at night because hands are more likely to bend when we sleep. To prevent this, the splint is wore by the patient.
