A. Three major types of epidemiology studies are-
1) Cohort study- Cohort is a study which is done on a group of people, who remain a part of a group for a prolong period to measure the exposure and outcome in the context of time. The subjects are followed over the time from its exposure to outcome.
It can be prospective, ambispective,, historical cohort study.
2) Case Control study- In this study researcher studies the outcome of the subjects based on past information.
3)Cross-sectional study- It is the study of relationship in two or more variables at a single point of time.
B. Cross- sectional study needs shortest time. Because in this study prolonged study period is not required, study can possible at a single point of time for example - A study to assess the prevalence of anxiety at first day of clinical posting among nursing students studying in RN Tagore hospital.
