Tertacycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic effective against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and as well as gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis.

Tetracycline is used in many diseases like Chronic bronchitis acute exerbation, Acne, Brucellosis, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Rickettsial infections, Q fever etc.

Side effects include Nausea, anorexia, vomiting, esophageal ulcers, permanent discolouration of teeth, skin rashes, liver and renal impairment etc.
