Upon pressing a pushbutton switch, (S1) a double-acting cylinder advances the heating rail and the packaging material is heated and compressed under the rail. Piston end-positions are detected using reed switches B1 and B2. After the required adhesion pressure has been reached and detected by a pressure switch B3, the heating rail is returned to its start position. An indicating light is incorporated in the circuit and shows when the die is about to retract having reached the desired end-location and pressure.
