dynamics question

  • Why is it important to balance masses in different planes?
  • Why have the two balancing masses been added in different planes? What would happen if a single balancing mass was added in plane 2?
  • Provide one example (other than the crankshaft) where balancing of masses in different planes is used in the industry?

Answer #1

It is important to balance masses in different planes to reduce vibration or unstabilities.

In mechanical machine or component, dynamic parts are present and when it is allow to proceed then the dynamic part fluctuates and it leads to unstable. When ever another masses attached to the different planes then it can reduce this problem.

If a single balancing mass is added to plane 2 only then it may be risk for another planes.

For example , mass at centre is given in wheels for rotating balance and also masses is given for stable balance.
