Question

What is the physical interpretation of the Biot number?

What is the physical interpretation of the Biot number?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Biot number is defined as the ratio of heat convection to surface to the heat conduction called biot number

And small biot number indicate small resistance to the heat conduction because of which there small temperature gradient within the body

Biot number is used in lumped systems analysis when the thermal conductivity of material is very high when biot number is less than 0.1 than lumped systems analysis is applicable when bi=0 then lumped analysis is exact when it is greater the lumped systems is not applicable

To test the effect of a physical fitness course on one's physical ability, the number of sit-ups that a person could do in one minute, both before and after the course, was recorded. Ten individuals are randomly selected to participate in the course. The results are displayed in the following table. Using this data, find the 90% confidence interval for the true difference in the number of sit-ups each person can do before and after the course. Assume that the...

Explain the Frequentist interpretation of the confidence level. (Be careful NOT to explain the Bayesian interpretation) Consider presidential polls and the following headline: Polls show Hillary ahead at 51% (+/-3%), Trump lagging behind at 49% (+/-3%) What is the confidence interval for each candidate? Which candidate is really ahead? Why is it important for the general public to understand confidence intervals?
