In an air-assist atomizer, how do the liquid flowrate (mL) and the air velocity affect the droplet mean size?
In air assisted atomiser droplet mean size affected by:
1.) Liquid flow rate
* During the pressure setups as we increase the air pressure , will reduce liquid flow rate this would produce finer droplets and vice versa.
This means that as flow rate decrease mean size of droplets also decrease.(finer droplets)
2.) Air velocity
* Liquid atomisation is usually obtained by simple shear action in which high air velocity is required .since as the pressure increases velocity as increase resulting in low flow rate and finer droplets will be produced .
Hence increasing the velocity will decrease the mean size of the droplet ( finer size).
