What’s the advantages for installing suction line for the pump in slope condition by 5%??

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The common suction line when horizontal shall be slowing down towards the suction header.

(5% slope,5mm rise for every 1M of run)

Suction header must be placed as close as possible to the compressor.

ADVANTAGES :

This is necessary to increase the velocity of returning gas and therefore insure proper oil return.

To avoid large quantities of oil accumulation.

It is important to ensure sufficient oil return under any load.

These are some of the advantages of installing suction line for a pump in slope condition by 5%
