Wind Energy Harvesting

Just a general question..

How do flapping wing energy harvesters actually produce electrical energy? I have a project on this so I want to understand the basics.

Answer #1

Wind power is the use of the wind's kinetic energy togenerate electricity or mechanical power. ... This is a similar process to the ancient windmill, except the mechanical power in the rotor shaft is used to rotate an electric generator, producing electricity. Schematic of the flexible flapping wing-based energy harvester. A piezoelectric patch is attached to the wing near its root to convert the strain variation from its deformation to a usable source of energy.

not exactly a question just want some options.my idea for an architecture class is to do a design for a park. I want to know what software (for example AUTOCAD) do you recommend that I can learn on my own in a few weeks to carry out this project. I'm a beginner at this but want to give a go at it.

I am currently designing a communication tower. There are wind loads and dead loads. How do you solve the forces of the members? Should I solve it as truss by using method of joints? Will there be bending moments for the leg members? I dont have a program to use so I solve it manually. Thanks

Harvesting Lightning It has been proposed that lightning be harvested for energy. Measurements of lightning strikes indicate that they have the following average properties (note, these are reasonable approximations): Potential difference between each end of 100 million V Current of 30000 A Time of 1.67E-4 seconds 20 strikes per square kilometer per year in lightning prone regions of the United States and 200 strikes per square kilometer per year in the most lightning prone regions in the world (Congo). "Lightning...

This is just a general question for a design project I’m working on, and I was wondering if I could get a few pointers. Scenario: I’m trying to construct a current limiting/driver circuit that will turn on/off a 12V DC supply when a certain temperature is achieved. A thermistor is being used to read the ambient temperature, and thus the current must be increased/decreased as the thermistor’s temperature reading (resistance) strays farther from the desired temperature. The goal for now...

Hydrogen reacts with oxygen to produce electrical energy in a fuel cell. 2H2(g) -> 4H+ + 4e- O2(g) + 4e- -> 2O2- 2H2(g) + O2(g) -> 2H2O(l)    Eo = +1.23 V Due to losses (typically heat) a fuel cell may actually produce about 1.0 V, but it is still more efficient than an internal combustion engine. The power in hydrogen can be expressed in units of Watts. The Watt in electricity is defined as the volts times current (amperes) 1...

Here is question 4 with the answer: Colon bacteria that produce H2S produce actually do so by using anaerobic respiration pathway. Please answer question 11-14, thank you! 11. Some other colon prokaryotes are able to generate methane (CH4) using a different metabolic pathway than the one you identified in Question #4. These prokaryotes can use which of the following metabolic pathways? a. aerobic respiration b. anaerobic respiration c. photosynthesis d. autotrophic methanogenesis 12. How do I determine the efficiency for photosynthesis? For example: The sun supplies energy at the rate of about 1.0 kilowatts per square meter of surface area (1 watt = 1 J/s). The plants in an agricultural field produce the equivalent of 20. kg of sucrose(C12H22O11) per hour per hectare(1 ha = 10,000 m^2). Assume that sucrose is produced by the reaction given below. 12 CO2(g) + 11 H2O(l) => C12H22O11(s) + 12O2(g) H = -5640 kJ Instructions: 1. I...

hi , i have a question that im confusing about NMR, so if i discover my substance along the line of CxHyOz then how do i know whether it is (CxHyOz)1 or (CxHyOz)2~x ? I have a lab about NMR and IR, can anyone give me a techinque to analyze the chart ? Cause it looks so ugly. ( just some guidance, i want to do it myself first )
