Question

What is the rule of thumb, supply air temperature to a space in a Heating mode?

What is the rule of thumb, supply air temperature to a space in a Heating mode?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

the 25/15/10 rule (rule of thumb) for space heating -

  • Minimum supply air temperature = space temperature + 25oF
  • Minimum supply water temperature for air heating coil = supply air temperature + 15oF
  • Minimum geothermal temperature entering isolation heat exchanger = coil supply water temperature + 10oF

The same temperature differences apply to the leaving side of the heat exchange equipment -

  • Minimum air coil leaving water temperature = space + 15oF
  • Minimum geothermal temperature leaving isolation heat exchanger = coil leaving temperature + 10oF

A geothermal heat pump is used in winter for space heating by getting heat from the ground at 15 °C. The working fluid in the heat pump is R134a. The compressor inlet is at 400 kPa and the compressor exit is at 2 MPa and 60 C. The mass flow rate of the refrigerant is 0.1 kg / s and the temperature difference in the air flow in the condenser section is 12 C. The refrigerant is subcooled to 15...

Atmosphric air at 40 F and 50% relative humidity enters the heating section of an airconditioning device at a volumetric flow rate of 100ft^3/min. Water vapor is added to the heated air to increase the relative humidity to 55%. The temperature after the heating section is 72F and the temperature at the exit is 74F. Using the appropriate fomulas: a) determine the rate of the heat transfer in Btu/min. b) determine the mass flow of water vapor in lbm/min.

An air conditioning and heating repair firm conducted a study to determine if the average outside temperature could be used to predict the cost of an electric bill for homes during the winter months in Houston, Texas. The resulting regression equation was: Y = 227.19 - 1.45X, where Y = monthly cost, X = average outside air temperature. If the temperature averaged 75 degrees during December, what is the forecasted cost of December's electric bill? Round the results to 2...

A frequently quoted rule of thumb in aircraft design is that wings should produce about 1000 N of lift per square meter of wing. (The fact that a wing has a top and bottom surface does not double its area.) a)At takeoff the aircraft travels at 63.0 m/s, so that the air speed relative to the bottom of the wing is 63.0 m/s. Given the sea level density of air to be 1.29 kg/m3, how fast (in m/s) must it...
