Consider a mixing chamber where two separate streams of fluid mix and then exit as a single stream. One of the stream that enters the mixing chamber is superheated steam at 5 bar and 2000C. The other stream that enters the mixing chamber is a liquid water at 5 bars and 400C. The two streams mix in the mixing chamber and exit as a single stream. The single stream that exits is saturated liquid at 5 bar. Determine the ratio of the mass flow rate of the liquid water to the superheated steam that enters the mixing chamber.

Answer #1

Note that the temperatures should be 200 degree C and 40 degree C (and not 2000 and 400 C). I think you have typped the degree symbol as number 0.

A mixing chamber has 2 inlets, first, steam water enters at 12 bar and 1173.15 K , then, saturated liquid enters at 12 bar and 80 kg/min. The exit conditions are 12 bar and 120 kg/min. Obtain the mass flow rate (kg/s) at which steam water enters, the temperature at the exit (C°) and the quality of substance at the exit. Ignore the changes of kinetic and potencial energy.

Consider an air-cooled condenser in which a stream of R-134a enters at 12 bar and 60degC, and leaves as a saturated liquid at 12 bar, and air enters as a separate stream at 1 bar, 35degC and leaves at 1 bar, 45degC. The two streams do not mix but heat transfer from one stream to the other stream occurs at the rate of 6.94 kW. Determine (a) the mass flow rates for the R-134a and the air (kg/s), and (b)...

Two products enter an indirect contact heat exchanger that uses steam for heating. The first product which contains 15% solids enters at the rate of 3 kg/hr and at 10 °C. The second stream which contains 20% solids enters at the rate of 4 kg/hr and at 20 °C. Saturated steam at 140 °C enters the heat exchanger at 0.5 kg/hr with a quality of 95% and exits at 10% quality at 140 °C. The resulting mixture enters an indirect...
