There os no major difference between grounding and bonding. Both means connecting an electric circuit or device to the earth. Still some differences are remaing and they are

  • In US grounding terminology is used and in UK earthing terminology is used.
  • Ground is a source of unwanted currents and also as a return path for main current sometimes. While earthing is done not for return path but only for protection of duplicate equipments. It is an alternate low resistance path for currents.
  • Earthing is to protect circuit when high voltage is passing due to thunder etc. Gronding is a commen point in circuit to maintain the voltage levels.

Both can prevent the electric shock. By providing an alternative path for dangerous currents to flow which will avoid electric shock to human.
