Assuming fluid level is to be determined, how can fluid level be determined using a linear encoder? Include in the group response discussions concerning buoyancy, how to establish the necessary buoyancy, etc.

Answer #1

Optical encoders can be used in level transmitters to find the fluid level. Optical encoder is a type of linear encoder that generates a optical signal which can measure the level in the fluid tank. Optical sensors are kept which can read the position of the disk in the level transmitter setup. The sensors collect the optical signal from the disk. A circuit is present in the setup which can compare signals output in each data. A reference signal is used to enhance acquired data from the encoder.
The transmitter can give optically encoded level measurements with good quality.

The system can be attached to a buoyant object or plumbs which moves due to variable tension accordingly wit the change in level. Change in fluid level gives vertical motion of the object.

A company has determined that its profit for a product can be described by a linear function. The profit from the production and sale of 150 units is $455, and the profit from 250 units is $895. (i) What is the average rate of change of the profit for this product when between 150 and 250 units are sold? (ii) Write the equation of the profit function for this product. (iii) How many units give break-even for this product?

What is the range equation” (assuming no air resistance and flat/level ground). Make sure that you have a nicely formatted equation, and that you include text to properly introduce the equation. Compute and plot horizontal distances using the range equation. Assuming an initial speed of 40 m/s (which would correspond to a very fast baseball pitch), plot the horizontal range versus the initial angle (in degrees). On the same plot, add another curve that shows the same results but for...

Q. Assuming the suppliers of financial capital (shareholders or bond/debt holders) are concerned at the level of buybacks (be it they view companies returning capital too quickly or too slowing through stock buybacks). How would this affect the cost of capital for a business? This one can be a little tricky. You have to think about what the cost of capital is, how it is determined, how any issue affects the cost of money.
