Answer 1. Since the position of every link relative to the driving link will remain same . So we can randomly select the position of driving link randomly.
And it won't affect the correctness of kinematic diagram because everything we calculate actually is relative . Ex. Relative velocity, relative acceleration, Position w.r.t fixed link .
Therefore, it doesn't depend on the initial position of driving link. But all links relative to that driving link must remain same.
