A DIY scanner is better option for 3d scanning which a can be made within 50 $, if you have a camera with you. For this you need a laser fire, stepper motor and a software to combine the picture to form a 3d picture, if can give a infinite resolution ,the whole assemble can be controlled by PLC having raspberry coding. In this a picture is taken and then laser is switched on and another pictures are takes by rotating th e body using stepper motor and all the traces of picture are combined to form 3d picture with a good resolution.
