The National House of Flapjacks wants to automate its flapjack production. It needs a mechanism that will automatically flip the flapjacks 'on the fly' as they travel through the griddle on a continuously moving conveyor. This mechanism must track the constant velocity of the conveyor, pick up a pancake, flip it over and place it back onto the conveyor.
A flipper with the shape of a spatula with a rotatory servo(or
stepper) motor can be used for this purpose. This has to be placed
perpendicular to the Conveyor belt ( as shown in the figure ). A
motion sensor ( vicinity or ultrasonic sensor can be used as well)
will detect upproach of the pancakes and as per that the spatulas
will rotate.
Motors should be programmed to rotate 180o, everytime a
pancake reaches it. The motion sensor present can give feedback for
the constant velocity of the conveyor, while the servo motor give
the count for number of pancakes flipped.
