Define materials science and materials engineering.

Define materials science and materials engineering.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Material Science is a branch of engineering which is concerned with investigation of the relationship existing between the structure of materials and the properties of the materials. It aims to develop new materials as well as to improve existing materials to meet the engineering requirements.

In materials engineering we study specific substances at the atomic level using computers to replicate characteristics of those substances. Understanding material composition at the most basic level and the synthesis of new materials are of primary importance of material engineering, in which we select, design, develop, manufacture, test and evaluate materials that meet the specifications of various projects and products.
