A natural gas has the following volumetric analysis CH4 76%, C2H6 8%, C3H8 5%, C4H10 5%, H2 1%, N2 1%, O2 2%, CO2 2%, is burned with 50 percent excess air at 298 K during a combustion process. Assuming complete combustion and a total pressure of 100 kPa, determine adiabatic flame temperature,entropy generation, exergy destruction and reversible work.(do not round off)

A particular natural gas consists, in mole percents, of 83.0% CH4 (methane), 11.2% C2H6 (ethane), and 5.80% C3H8 (propane). A 385-L sample of this gas, measured at 25 ∘C and 729 mmHg , is burned in an excess of oxygen gas. How much heat, in kilojoules, is evolved in this combustion reaction? Express your answer with the appropriate units. The table shown here gives the enthalpy of combustion for three different hydrocarbon fuels to produce liquid water and gaseous carbon...

A natural gas mixture of methane (CH4) and ethane (C2H6) are used for the fuel source for generation of steam in a refinery plant. In this process,The gas stream mixture 1000kg/min having 70wt% CH4 and 30wt% C2H6 is burned with 100% excess air.Gas analysis shows that the CH4 and 85% C2H6 are completely burned into carbon dioxide , while 10% C2H6 is partially burned into carbon monoxide and the remaining C2H6 is unreacted. Assume the air stream feed to the furnace...

A natural gas contains 80.0 wt% CH4 and the balance C2H6. Five hundred cubic meters per hour of this gas at 40.0°C and 1.30 bar is to be burned with 25.0% excess air. The air flowmeter is calibrated to read the volumetric flow rate at standard temperature and pressure. What should the meter read (in SCMH — standard cubic meters per hour) when the flow rate is set to the desired value?

A natural gas mixture having a molar analysis 60% CH4, 30% C2H6, 10% N2 is supplied to a furnace like the one shown in Fig. P13.8, where it burns completely with 20% excess air. Determine (a) the balanced reaction equation. (b) the air–fuel ratio, both on a molar and a mass basis
