1- whay in hot extrusion accoure Reduction of grain flow characteristics in the final product ?

2- whay in hot extrusion Reduction strength and increasing ductility of the metal?

3-whay in hot forging required lower force?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

(1) In hot extrusion as metal is heated till recrystallization temperature then as load is applied to metal then as billets are formed then grain flow size reduces in final size of product.

(2) In hot extrusion in order to reduce net extrusion force to push metal, strength is reduced and ductility is increased by heating metal before applying load.

(3) In hot forging low force is required as metal is heated and strain hardening is reduced and ductility is increased.

Questions from Calorimeter Lab: 1) Examine the initial and final temperatures in Part I. Explain how the temperatures tell you what type of thermochemical reaction was involved (endothermic or exothermic). 2) We assumed that no heat is lost to the surroundings beyond the nested coffee cups. In Part I, obviously there would have been some loss in heat as the hot metal is transferred to the calorimeter. How does that unavoidable heat loss affect your calculated specific heat of the...
