Solve the psuedo-quadratic equation y^4+7y^2-30=0

Solve the psuedo-quadratic equation y^4+7y^2-30=0

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given equation y^4+7y^2-30=0

put x=y^2

Therefore, the equation becomes

x^2+7x-30=0

x^2+10x-3x-30=0

x(x+10) -3(x+10)=0

(x-3)(x+10)=0

Hence

(x-3)=0 or (x+10)=0

x=3 or x=-10

put y^=x

y^2 = 3 or y^2 = -10

hence,

or
