Please Explain what L'Hopitals rule is how it is used

Homework Answers

Answer #1

L hospital rule is used in estimating the limits of the indeterminate forms like 0/0 or infinity/ infinity. For such indeterminate forms the limits cannot be determined directly, therefore some alternate substitutions may be used.

Among all the indeterminate forms this rule is applicable only to the limits which are in 0/0 form or infinity/infinity form.

According to this rule the limit in these forms can be evaluated by differentiating the numerator and denominator individually with respect to the variable. Hence the ratio would be the limit value at the certain point.
