Given ∠B below, construct the triangle △ABC with D on AC so that BD bisects ∠B and has length bd and satisfies AD/DC=4/5. Show the steps.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1. Draw the B and using protractor draw its bisector.

2. Take an arc equal to length of BD and then mark point D with center as B.

3. Draw a perpendicular line at point D and locate two points M and N on it so that MD = 4 umits and DN = 5 units

4. From points M and N draw perpendicular lines which intersects the arms of B at points M' and N'. Draw line through D and parallel to M'N' which again intersects the arms at points A and C respectively.

5. Join the points A and D. Now AD : DC = 4 : 5, and ABC is the desired triangle.
