Regular pentagons can't be used for tiling an area - as their internal angle is 108 degree which does not divide 360 degree. If you try to put regular pentagon for tiling, you will have space between two different tile.

Regular pentagons can be used for tiling surface of sphere or hyperbolic plane.

Regular polygon ( Triangle, square, hexagon) can be easily used for tiling an area. there are many other use for regular polygon in differnet dimension of live. as making some food item attractive, making gift items and so on
