The question ask, if 2x=x is divided by x what will be the answer.equation 2 x equals x by dividing both sides by x, resulting in 2 equals 1. Then the student concludes there is no solution to the equation. What, if anything, is wrong with this process?

Answer #1

2x=X is divided by X on both side

2=1

It seems okay when we solve it

But one thing is there when we divide a equation or number or variable by a variable then a condition which come with it

Like here when we divide equation by X a condition come with it that X=×0(X is not equal to zero)

And if solve this equation 2x = X

2x-x= 0

X=0

So here the value of X is 0 and we are missing this important condition that is why answer is getting wrong and there is a solution for equation X=0
