how many of A coffee was used?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution-

Let A coffee used is x pounds.

Sinve total coffee made is 148 pounds So, B coffee used is (148 -x) pounds.

Now, according to question.

A coffee costs $5.80. B coffee costs $4.40 and the mixture is 148 pounds for a total of $731.00.

So, Total individual cost= Total mixed cost.

This implies

5.80(x) + 4.40(148 - x) = 731

5.80x + 651.20 - 4.40x = 731

Bringing like terms on same side.

5.80x - 4.40x = 731 - 651.20

Combining the like terms

1.40x = 79.80

Dividing both sides by 1.40

1.40x/1.40 = 79.80/1.40

Performing division

x = 57 pounds.

Hence, the A coffee used is 57 pounds.
