He looked at his address number and realized that the sum of the ones digit and the thousands digit equals the difference between the hundreds digit and the tens digit. The ones digit equals the tens digit. What is Bully's address number? I need to understand how to show my work for this problem.

As we have a thousands digit mentioned in the question , it is obvious that Billy’s address number is a 4 digit number .

Let the 4 digit number be ABCD

Here

D is the one’s digit

C is the ten’s digit

B is the hundred’s digit and

A is the thousand’s digit

Each of A,B,C,D has a possibilities from 0-9

So from the question it is given that

D=C and

D+A=B-C or C-B (it is just the difference between them)
