You have a 3.5-foot-wide shelf in your room, and you are considering a 45-inch television. Television sizes are determined by the length of the diagonal of the screen.

We solve the FIRST problem.

First we write the problem and then answer it.

Problem: You are planning to hang lights around your window for a party. The cost is $4.00 for a 20 foot string of light.

ANSWER:

To calculate the total cost of the light string which will be hanged around the window, we must know the exact perimeter of the window. To know the perimeter of the window we must know the size of the window. i.e. what is the length and what is the width of the window.

Now suppose length of window is 20 feet and width is 15 feet.

Then we know the formula for perimeter of a rectangle.: P=2(L+W)

Where, P= Perimeter, L=Length and W=Width

Therefore, P= = 2 ( 20+15) = 70 feet

Now we can calculate the cost. It is given that for 20 foot of light string cost is $4

Hence for 70 foot of light string, cost would be = 70 x 4 / 20 = $14.

ANSWER: Cost of light string around the window is $14.
