Ice cream is sold to stores in cylindrical containers. Each scoop of ice cream in a cone in a sphere with a diameter of 4.2 cm. How many scoops of ice cream are in each container? An ice cream cone with one scoop sells for 86 cents. How much money will the ice cream store charge for each full cylinder of ice cream that it sells in cones? Height of ice cream container is 20 cm. Radius of ice cream container is 10cm
Solution :
Given :
Radius of ice cream container, R = 10 cm
and Height of ice cream container , H = 20 cm.
Volume of ice cream, V = πR²H = π *( 10 )² * 20 = 2000π cm³
Diameter of spherical scoop of ice cream, d = 4.2 cm.
Radius of spherical scoop of ice cream, r = d/2 = 4.2/2 = 2.1 cm.
Volume of ice cream scoop, v = (4/3)πr³ = (4/3)π * ( 2.1)³
Number of ice cream scoops in one full cylinder = V/v
= 2000π /{(4/3)π * ( 2.1)³}
= 161.96955
= 162 ( approx. )
Selling price of one scoop = 86 cents
Hence, Price store should charge for each full cylinder of ice cream = $162 * 86/100 = $139.32
