1) Solve the system of equations. Give your answer as an
ordered pair (x,y)
{y=−7
{5x-6y=72
a) One solution:
b) No solution
c) Infinite number of solutions
2) Solve the system of equations. Give your answer as an
ordered pair (x,y)
{x=2
{3x-6y=-30
a) One solution:
b) No solution
c) Infinite number of solutions
1) Given system of equations is :
y = -7..........(i)
5x-6y = 72........(ii)
From (i) and (ii) we have, 5x-6*(-7) = 72
i.e., 5x+42 = 72
i.e., 5x = 72-42
i.e., 5x = 30
i.e., x = 30/5
i.e., x = 6
Therefore, the system has one solution and the solution is (6,-7).
2) Given system of equations is :
x = 2.........(i)
3x-6y = -30...........(ii)
From (i) and (ii) we have,
3*2-6y = -30
i.e., 6-6y = -30
i.e., -6y = -30-6
i.e., -6y = -36
i.e., y = (-36)/(-6)
i.e., y = 6
Therefore, the system has one solution and the solution is (2,6).
