Slope is rate of change of a metric.

E.g. Acceleration is rate of change of speed.

If a vehicle increased its speed from 0 to 50 mph in 2 hour, the rate of change of speed is (50-0)/2 = 25 mph2

If slope is positive for speed vs. time graph, it means acceleration is positive. means the speed has increased with time.

If slope is negative for speed vs. time graph, it means acceleration is negative. means the speed has decreased with time.
