Homework Answers

Answer #1

let the number of books sold by Azad be x.

and let the number of concert tickets bought by Azad be y.

each book was sold for $2727

=> x books were sold for 2727x

each ticket is bought for $5454

=> y tickets are bought for 5454y

He s left with no money now. i.e, he spent all the money be got from selling books to buy tickets.

=> 2727x - 5454y = 0

=> 2727x = 5454y

=> x = 2y

for x to be minimum, 2y should be minimum.

=> y = 1

=> x = 2(1) = 2.

Least number of books he could have sold = 2

earnings from selling 2 books = 2(2727) = $ 5454

least number of tickets bought = 1
