Question

Given that f(x)=x^2-9 and g(x)=3x+16, find (g-f)(9), if it exists.

Given that f(x)=x^2-9 and g(x)=3x+16, find (g-f)(9), if it exists.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

(g - f)(x) = g(x) - f(x)

             = 3x + 16 - (x^2 - 9)

             = 3x + 16 - x^2 + 9

            = -x^2 + 3x + 25

(g - f)(9) = -(9)^2 + 3 * 9 + 25

              = -81 + 27 + 25

              = -29
