Given that th woman bought

large frames (L) for $17 each

Small frames (S) for $5 each

Total cost (C) = 17L + 5S

L-no.of large frames and S-no.of small frames

But the total cost given is 240

So,  17L + 5S = 240..........(1)

Total no.of frames = 24

So, L+S = 24.......(2)

Multiply equation 2 with 5. we get,

5L+5S = 120.....(2a)

Subtract 2a from 1, we get (2a)-(1)

17L + 5S-5S-5L = 240-120

12L = 120

L = 10

Substituting it in (2), we get S = 24-10= 14

No.of Large frames = 10 and the number of small frames = 14
