The DJIA (Dow jones industrial average) is an index made up of 30 large
stocks that trade on the NYSE (New York stock exchange) and the
Nasdaq.
The DJIA is representative of the broader U.S economy. Some of the stocks
that make up the index are exxon mobil, microsoft, and walt disney.
The S&P 500 or the Standard and Poor's 500 is an index that is comprised
of 500 stocks. The 500 stocks are the largest 500 stocks in the United States
based on market capitalization. The S&P 500 is also referred to as the
large-cap index.
Some of the stocks that make up the S&P 500 index are agilent technologies,
morgan Stanley, target, texas instruments, and walmart.
