Why is it important for communication to flow freely between all levels of an organization?

Communication is required to flow freely at all levels in the organisation. From the top communication is required so as to to convey the organisational plans. If the communication does not flow freely the vision of the organisation will not be communicated and the performance of the employees will not be in accordance with the objectives of the organisation. Communication is also required from the lower levels to the higher levels so as to convey the problems and issues arising in the performance of the duties assigned to them. Also innovative ideas come from the lower level in the organisation and there needs to be a channel by which they can be communicated.
