Primary data- It is the information, collected by the person himself or herself. It is the real time data.

Examples: Survey, questionnaire, Observation, personal interview and experiments.

Uses of Primary data- Primary data is used for the purpose of addressing research problem. It is the raw data that is very useful in the final research of anything as the research goes on, there is need of collecting data then primary data is collected. This data requires lot of efforts, time and money.

Secondary data- It is the information, collected by someone else earlier or the data that is already available. It is the past or historic data.

Uses of Secondary data- This data is used in the initial phase of a research. This data is easy to collect and it saves time as well as cost of researchers.

Examples: Data available online on internet, books, journals, websites, articles etc.
