1. Making sure that all the countries have enough monetary base to continue to run. For example, When Greece ran into debt problem, IMF helped the country to come out and rescue it self.

2. IMF can be called as the lender of the last resort which helps countries come out of bankruptcy.

3. The IMF also helps in gauging the global GDP growth rate. It explain it global growth outlook.

4. The IMF helps the various international countries in managing the exchange rate between their domestic currency and major world currencies.

5. They also provide short term capital to countries to aid balance of payments.
