visit a local retail store: grocery, discount, pharmacy etc. Go up and down each aisle slowly, noticing how many different products are available and how they are organized on the shelves. Choose a specific product category, then count the variety of products within the category. For example, how many different brands and sizes of cereal, dish soap, soup or candies are on the shelves? How do the prices compare to one another?
The category selected is that of breads.
There were 7 different types of breads. In a simple and basic item such as bread, I was surprised to discover that there was a vast difference in their prices. So while white bread costed $ 1.6 per pound, the brown Bread was priced between 2.5 to 4 USD. There were different variations and flavors of milk bread with the prices ranging between $3 to $10. Multigrain bread costed around $6 per pound.
I observed that the prices varied according to the quality, the brand and the popularity of flavors.
