This is a technique of research which evaluates documents, either communicative or text, for the purpose of generalization and/or understanding the material fact within it.

Examples: (1) Collecting survey answers for analyzing customers’ choices is a content analysis. (2) Someone written an essay regarding a feature film; if it is criticized by other viewers then the essay-content was analyzed by them. (3) An organization analyzed past years data for understanding the expected sales of current year; this is also a content analysis, because it helps in interpretation.
