Explain what John Kenneth Galbraith was talking about when he wrote of a ‘dependence effect’
The dependence effect was a term coined by John Kenneth Galbraith when he wrote the book " The Affluent Society". The term was aimed at the demand that was created not by the consumer's inherent instincts and needs but by the very production process that satisfied those wants. Galbraith basically critisized the production activities that lead the demand for the produced to be created. He didn't consider it to be satisfying demands if the demands followed the production and not vice versa.
