Answer #1

Self-supporting Growth rate

Formula = Net Income/ Sales (M)* (1- Payout Ratio(PQR) *Sales / total assets(S0) – Spontaneous Liabilities (Lo) - Net Income/ Sales (M)* (1- Payout Ratio(PQR) *Sales

Net Income/ sales = 6%

Pay-out Ratio = 70%

Sales = 4,000,000

Total Assets = 2,800,000

Spontaneous Liabilities = Accounts Payable + Accruals = 500,000+200,000 = 700,000

Apply the formula

= 0.06 (1- 0.70) * 4,000,000 /2,800,000 – 700,000 - 0.06 (1- 0.70) * 4,000,000

= 72,000/2,800,000 – 700,000 -72000

Self-supporting growth rate = 3.550%

How large a sales increase in amount?

= Sales * self-supporting growth rate

= 4,000,000 * 3.550%

= $142,000
