A youth league soccer coach needs to buy 5 dozen soccer balls. The list price is $199 per dozen and a series discount of 20/5/40 is offered. Find how much the coach will pay for the soccer balls.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Series discount of 20/5/40 means that there will be 20%, 5% and 40% discount on list price.

Non discounted or list price = $199 * 5 = $995

We will calculate the net price by the following formula:

Net price = List price * ( 1-d1) (1-d2) (1-d3)

where, d1,d2, and d3w are the discounts given in series discount.

Putting the values in the above formula, we get,

Net price = $995 * ( 1- 0.20) (1- 0.05) (1- 0.4)

Net price = $995 * 0.8 * 0.95 * 0.6

Net price = $453.72

So, the coach will pay $453.72
